  • Overview of the recent ACN Networking meeting

  • iPhoto to Photos migration best practices presented by Steve Sorbo
  • Roundtable membership discussion—Due to a last minute presenter cancellation, I am asking if those who are attending could participate in a discussion on two topics: first, share an ongoing/unresolved issue with which you would like to get advice, or perhaps guidance on how to proceed with a client project, secondly, a show ‘n tell on a  software/hardware product that you have found helpful to your business.
  • What: Northwest Mac Pros Quarterly meeting
  • Where: 74bit, Inc.: 610 2nd Ave. Seattle, WA. 98104
  • When: Friday, July 29th from 3pm-5pm.
  • Who: Fellow Northwest Mac Pro members.

NWMP and 74bit will have a Google Hangouts for those members who can not be there in person. Send an email to newsletter@nwmacpro.com with “remote login” in the subject line if you are interested in participating remotely.

Meeting Announcement—October 30th 3p.m.-5p.m. @ Wheelwrights

Come and hear two great presentations from Shelley Watson and Gregory Ashworth about iCloud Drive, Photos, and Apple Music.

Learn all about iCloud Drive

iCloud Drive had a rocky start but now has a growing loyal following. It does a great job of keeping your stuff on all of your devices. But how? The problem with “magic” solutions is, when they break you don’t know how to fix them. In this presentation by Shelley Watson of Wheelwrights, we fix that by completely pulling apart iCloud Drive and really understanding where files are located, how backups capture the data and what can go wrong and how to fix it if they do. Be one of the only consultants in your market who really understands iCloud Drive.

Photos & Apple Music

Apple has recently retired both iPhoto and Aperture in favor of their brand-new application, Photos. In addition, Apple introduced a streaming service called Apple Music. Learn the ins and outs of these two new releases from Apple from Gregory Ashworth of iDigital. He’ll show you what’s great about them and where your clients might get stuck. You’ll look like a hero!

Remote Access

NWMP will also try to provide remote login for those members who can not be there in person. Send an email to newsletter@nwmacpro.com with “remote login” in the subject line if you are interested in participating remotely.

Location & RSVP

Shelley Watson and Chris Dawe of Wheelwrights have graciously offered to host the October meeting. Please be courteous to them; RSVP so that they can adequately plan. We thank Wheelwrights for their continued support of NWMP!

Costumes not required. You’re all scary enough as it is!

Northwest Mac Pros April meeting—3p.m.-5p.m.

Meeting Reminder This Friday 4/24!

NWMP’s is pleased to have John Chaffee of BusyMac as our guest presenter for the April meeting. BusyMac has recently released version 1.0 of their newest program for OS X, BusyContacts. It will now take its place alongside BusyCal as a great solution for those seeking a more powerful replacement to Apple’s Calendar and Contacts. John will demo the program for us. Here’s a great review of BusyContacts and interview with John.

In addition, we will also have a round table discussion about some of the various methods procedures, and best practices we as consultants and tech support providers employ when supporting our clients. For example, we will talk about if you require clients to sign a contract or some type of TOS. Does your company offer Managed Services? What type of intake procedure does your company employ? How do you handle billing?Do you use PayPal or Freshbooks for example?

Also, if time permits we can geek out on the new MacBook and also the Apple Watch, and discuss how we will be might be offering these products to our clients.

NWMP will also try and provide remote login for those members who can not be there in person. Send an email to newsletter@nwmacpro.com with “remote login” in the subject line if you are interested in participating remotely.
